Denel (Pty) Ltd has issued a Request for Quotation for the cleaning and maintenance of a critical compressor unit at its Kempton Park campus. This is a specialized opportunity for service providers with proven experience in industrial screw compressor maintenance.
Tender Overview and Key Dates
The RFQ, numbered ID012635, was published on 11 July 2026, with quotations closing on 20 July 2026 at 11:00. A site briefing session will be held on 15 July 2026 at 11:00 at Denel Aerospace, Kempton Park Campus on Atlas Road. Bidders are required to bring their own PPE to the briefing. Scope of Work
The appointed service provider will remove, clean, inspect, and reinstall the separator tank and oil coolers for an Atlas Copco GA 160 VSD compressor unit and carry out a 4000-hour service. The scope includes:
- Depressurizing and isolating the compressor
- Draining oil and removing separator tank assembly
- Removing and inspecting separator element
- Cleaning tank internally and externally
- Inspecting for corrosion, cracks, wear, and gasket condition
- Cleaning oil cooler and aftercooler surfaces
- Removing dust, oil contamination, and debris from cooling fins
- Testing cooling efficiency and functional commissioning
Safety and Technical Requirements
The contractor must comply with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO) procedures, site safety rules, and permit-to-work requirements. The successful bidder must supply a comprehensive safety file, risk assessment, and SHE Plan, and hold a valid COIDA Letter of Good Standing.
Evaluation Criteria
Bidders must achieve a minimum functionality score of 70 points out of 100 to qualify for financial evaluation. The 80/20 preference point system applies, with price scored out of 80 points and B-BBEE status level scored out of 20 points.

Mandatory Returnable Documents
Bidders must submit a Valid Tax Clearance Certificate or SARS PIN, proof of CSD registration, completed SBD 4 forms, a detailed methodology, and proof of at least five years’ experience in servicing Atlas Copco or equivalent industrial screw compressors.
