The City of Cape Town invites accredited waste management service providers to submit bids for the provision, waste disposal, and cleaning of 6 and 12 cubic metre waste skips under tender reference 272S/2025/26. This strategic 36-month contract supports the municipality’s waste services department in maintaining clean public spaces and informal markets across the metropolis.
Tender Overview and Contract Scope
The appointed contractor will supply, transport, and maintain 6m³ and 12m³ skip containers across designated municipal areas. A specific requirement includes placing a high-density polyethylene skip bin at the Philippi informal meat market for animal carcass waste disposal, ensuring specialized handling of organic waste.
Operational Requirements and Turnaround Times
Mandatory services include emptying skips at the CCT-owned Vissershok Landfill Site, washing, and disinfecting containers immediately after disposal to control odours and insect breeding. The City expects a strict 24-hour turnaround time for service requests, with penalties imposed for non-removal of special or hazardous waste. Price escalation for disposal will be based on the annual tariff determined by the CCT Waste Services Department.
