The project demands strict adherence to technical standards. Key requirements include:
- Foundations: Each post requires a 0.8m depth x 0.40m wide x 0.40m long concrete foundation with minimum 15 MPa strength after 14 days. Only SANAS accredited laboratories may conduct testing.
- Pre-cast Elements: Posts must be 3.0m long and slotted to receive horizontal rails. Pales shall be 2.3 meters long with 70mm thickness, spaced at 90mm intervals with 9 pales per 2-meter segment.
- Steel Reinforcement: All reinforcement must be high-yield steel with minimum characteristic strength of 410 MPa, complying with SABS 920 and SABS 4482. Material certificates must be provided.
- Concertina Coil Installation: Posts must be drilled for galvanised steel brackets, with 450mm diameter concertina coils installed using 2.5mm hot-dipped galvanised wire.
