The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has issued an open tender (SASSA:03-26-GA-LP) for the manufacture, supply, and delivery of school uniforms. This strategic 36-month contract targets capable textile manufacturers to support the agency’s Social Relief of Distress (SRD) mandate, providing essential educational items to needy learners across the Limpopo province.
Scope of Manufacturing and Distribution
The appointed service provider will manufacture and deliver comprehensive uniform packs, including shirts, trousers, skirts, shoes, and bags. Bidders must indicate their capacity to supply specific districts, including Capricorn, Mopani, Sekhukhune, Waterberg, and Vhembe. The contractor will also be responsible for taking accurate measurements and conducting fittings before packaging and distributing the items within 60 days of receiving an official order.
Local Content and Functionality Criteria
Strict adherence to local production in the textile sector is mandatory. Bidders must submit a Declaration Certificate for Local Production and Content (SBD 6.2). Furthermore, proposals will undergo a functionality evaluation assessing manufacturing capacity, equipment availability (sewing and knitting machines), and transport logistics, including proof of vehicle ownership or lease agreements.
