    George Municipality Seeks Furniture Supply and Installation

    George, Western Cape – George Municipality has issued an open tender (GMT007/26-27) for the appointment of a service provider for the supply, delivery, and installation of furniture on an as-and-when-required basis, from the date of appointment until 30 June 2028. This procurement aims to furnish municipal offices and facilities with quality, compliant furniture solutions.

    Project Scope and Furniture Requirements

    The successful bidder will supply, deliver, and install a comprehensive range of office furniture, including:

    • Ergonomic office chairs (high back, visitor, mesh back, bonded leather)
    • Conference tables (12-seater, 8-seater, and 5-seater round)
    • Desks (managerial, panel leg, L-shape)
    • Storage units (pedestals, credenzas, bookcases, wall units, server units)
    • Canteen and reception furniture (canteen chairs, couches, tub chairs)
    • Accessories (monitor arms, laptop stands, monitor risers, shredders)
    • Steel cabinets and lockers

    All furniture must comply with approved SABS standards, and product data sheets must be submitted with the tender. Pricing must include supply, delivery, and assembly, with delivery within 30 days of official order.

    Mandatory Requirements

    Bidders must submit the following or face disqualification:

    • Valid Tax Compliance Status (TCS) PIN
    • Valid B-BBEE certificate or sworn affidavit
    • Central Supplier Database (CSD) registration
    • Completed MBD 1, MBD 4, MBD 6.1, MBD 8, and MBD 9 forms
    • Company resolution and bank details
    • Municipal services clearance certificate
    • Past experience schedule
    • Joint Venture Agreement (if applicable)

    No Briefing Session

    Submission Details

    Sealed tenders marked “Tender No. GMT007/26-27” must be placed in the tender box at the George Municipality, Fifth Floor, Supply Chain Management, Civic Centre, 71 York Street, George, before 12:00 on Monday, 2 November 2026. Tenders will be opened at 12:05 in the Committee Room. Late, unmarked, posted, faxed, or emailed tenders will not be accepted. Bids must remain valid for 90 days.

    Evaluation Criteria

    The 80/20 preference point system applies, with points allocated as follows:

    • Price: 80 points
    • B-BBEE Status Level: 10 points
    • Specific Goals (Locality): 10 points

    Locality points are awarded as follows: 10 points within George Municipality boundaries, 6 points within Garden Route District, 4 points within Western Cape, and 2 points outside Western Cape. Proof of address must be submitted.

    Special Conditions

    Only one bidder will be awarded. The municipality reserves the right to appoint preferred and alternative bidders. The contract period runs from date of appointment until 30 June 2028.
