The project requires a service provider with a valid CIDB Grade 1 CE (or Higher) to carry out specialized civil construction work.
Compulsory Site Briefing
A mandatory briefing session will be held on 16 September 2026 at 11:00 at the Albertina Nontsikelelo Sisulu Science Centre. Attendance is compulsory for all bidders.
Scope of Work
The project involves:
- Reinforced Concrete Slab: 1.5m × 1.5m × 0.4m, including excavation, gravel bedding, formwork, steel reinforcement (with a 400mm × 400mm central exclusion zone), and 25 MPa concrete finished with trowel finish, plus a cast-in conduit sleeve.
- Trench Line: 65m long, 15cm wide, 60cm deep connecting the slab to the borehole area.
- Conduit Installation: Supply and installation of 32mm conduit pipe and draw wire through the full trench length.
- Site Restoration: Backfilling, compaction, and restoration upon completion.
Eligibility Requirements
Bidders must:
- Hold a valid CIDB Grade 1 CE or Higher registration.
- Submit at least one contactable reference letter for successful completion of similar concrete work.
- Provide a valid Tax Clearance Certificate or CSD number.
- Submit a certified SANAS-accredited BBBEE certificate or sworn affidavit.

Evaluation and Submission
The RFQ will be assessed using the 80/20 preference point system, with price accounting for 80 points and NRF-SAASTA specific goals (B-BBEE status, ownership, and company size) for the remaining 20 points.
All quotations must be emailed to quotes1@saasta.nrf.ac.za on an official company letterhead, with a detailed cost breakdown and VAT included.
