The Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa (PRASA) has issued Request for Proposal DBN/OPS(BAC)010 for the appointment of a panel of contractors for fencing replacement across various stations and depots in the KwaZulu-Natal Region (KZNR). This strategic 36-month contract operates on an as-and-when-required basis to enhance railway security and infrastructure integrity.
Scope of Work: Fencing Replacement Across KZN Stations and Depots
The panel will address fencing issues across numerous PRASA properties, including stations and depots. The scope includes:
- Demolition and removal of existing fencing
- Clearing of the fence line (1m wide)
- Removal and disposal of cleared material
- Backfilling of footing holes and grading of surfacing irregularities
- Supply and erection of new fencing
- Levelling of earthworks after erection
Compulsory Briefing Session
Attendance at the pre-proposal briefing and site inspection is strictly mandatory. Bidders who fail to attend and sign the official register will be summarily disqualified from the evaluation process.

Mandatory Compliance and Evaluation
Proposals will undergo a rigorous multi-stage evaluation. Bidders must achieve a minimum functionality threshold of 70% to advance to the financial evaluation phase. Mandatory submissions include a valid Central Supplier Database (CSD) report, Tax Compliance Status, and proof of relevant construction and fencing project experience.
Strict Physical Submission Protocols
Sealed bid envelopes must be deposited directly into PRASA KZN Tender Box No. 04 at the Greyville Durban Station address. Telegraphic, telephonic, facsimile, or e-mailed tenders will not be accepted under any circumstances.
