The Eastern Cape Parks and Tourism Agency (ECPTA) invites qualified construction contractors to submit bids for the repairs and maintenance of the Kingston (B3) staff accommodation at the Great Fish River Nature Reserve. Funded by the World Bank’s South Africa Wildlife Conservation Bond Operation, this project ensures safe, modern living conditions for reserve personnel.
Scope of Works and CIDB Requirements
The four-month contract requires a CIDB grading of 3GB or higher. Comprehensive works include:
- Roof, ceiling, and wooden floor restoration
- Internal and external painting
- Solar geyser installation and plumbing upgrades
- Electrical compliance and Wi-Fi connectivity Bidders must adhere to the JBCC Minor Works Agreement and maximize sourcing from Eastern Cape-based suppliers.
Compulsory Site Inspection Details
Attendance at the compulsory site inspection and clarification meeting is mandatory. Prospective tenderers must arrive at the Great Fish Nature Reserve (Double Drift, Alice) by 10:00 on Tuesday, 09 June 2026. Due to rugged site terrain, bidders are strongly advised to use high-clearance 4×4 vehicles.
Mandatory CIDB Grading & Submission Requirements
- CIDB grading: 3GB or higher. Bidders exceeding their threshold by more than 15% in combination with other simultaneous contracts may be regarded as non-responsive.
- Documents required for responsiveness (Stage 1):
- Compulsory briefing attendance
- Valid CIDB registration certificate (3GB+)
- Valid CSD registration proof (uploaded in the month of bid closing)
- CK documents (CIPC registration)
- Joint Venture agreement (if applicable)
- Valid Tax Compliance Status (verified via CSD)
- Maximum projects: Bidders may submit bids for up to 3 projects currently advertised, but will be awarded only one.
Submission Guidelines and Deadlines
Sealed bids must be deposited in the ECPTA tender box at 17-25 Oxford Street, East London, by 11:00 on Tuesday, 30 June 2026. Bidders may submit for a maximum of three concurrent ECPTA projects, though only one will be awarded to promote broader participation. Electronic or late submissions will be strictly disqualified.
