The Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) is seeking qualified service providers for the once-off supply, delivery, installation, and commissioning of HVAC rooftop package units at Building 11, located at the CSIR Scientia Campus in Pretoria. This strategic infrastructure upgrade supports the institution’s commitment to maintaining optimal environmental conditions for scientific research and operational efficiency.

Scope of Work – Two 72kW Rooftop Package Units
The contractor will decommission and remove two existing Mitsubishi units (48kW and 46.3kW, total weight ±655kg) and supply, install, and commission two new inverter‑type rooftop package units (72kW each, cooling capacity 70‑75kW). Key technical requirements:
- R410 gas or similar environmentally friendly refrigerant
- Minimum COP of 3.0
- IP rating 66, 400V, power factor ≥0.9, sound pressure ≤72dBA
- Front air discharge and suction only
- Hardwired thermostats inside each room
- BacNet compatible
Full electrical installation: 4‑core XLPE/SWA/PVC copper cables (minimum 25mm²), earthing conductor (≥25mm²), two 80A 3‑pole circuit breakers, and 80A IP66 lockable isolators per unit. All electrical works to comply with SANS 10142‑1 and OHS Act.

Attendance at the pre-bid briefing is mandatory for all prospective bidders. The session will be held on Friday, 12 June 2026, at 10:00, outside Building 11 at the CSIR Scientia Campus, Meiring Naude Road, Brummeria. This briefing provides critical insights into site-specific requirements, technical specifications, and submission protocols.
Submission Guidelines and Deadline
Quotations must be submitted no later than Friday, 19 June 2026, at 16:30. Late submissions will not be considered. Bidders are advised to ensure all documentation is complete, compliant, and submitted via the prescribed channels to avoid disqualification.
