The Gauteng Growth and Development Agency (GGDA), through the Gauteng Industrial Development Zone (GIDZ), invites experienced building contractors to bid for the supply and installation of carports at the OR Tambo International Airport Special Economic Zone (ORTIA SEZ) Precinct 1. This project aims to enhance the existing parkade infrastructure by covering 102 uncovered rooftop bays and two executive bays at the front lobby.
Project Scope: Supply and Install Steel Carports
The scope of work involves a comprehensive turnkey solution, from site preparation to final handover. Key deliverables include:
- Structural Works: Supply and installation of non-reflective, weather-proofed steel structures. Specifications include 4m high columns with concrete foundations, designed to accommodate future solar panels.
- Project Management: Submission of a Health and Safety file, a detailed inception report, and bi-weekly progress reports over a 4-month completion timeframe.
- Site Responsibilities: The contractor will be responsible for site establishment, including providing their own ablutions, site offices, and managing water and electricity connections.
Contractor Requirements & CIDB Grading
Interested bidders must meet specific eligibility criteria to be considered for this tender. The contract is specifically targeted at:
- CIDB Registration: Grade 2GB or higher, with a classification of GB (General Building) or PE (Civil Engineering).
- Evaluation Criteria: A preferential procurement system will be used, awarding 80 points for bid price and 20 points for B-BBEE status.
- Local Labour: Contractors must ensure that at least 30% of the workforce is sourced from the local labour force.

A compulsory site briefing session is scheduled to allow bidders to familiarize themselves with the site conditions and the full extent of the works. Attendance is mandatory for a bid to be considered.
