The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has issued a Request for Quotation (RFQ) under reference number 3687/24 for the construction of a 6-bay carport at its Springbok Weather Office in the Northern Cape. This infrastructure project supports SAWS’s operational efficiency and staff welfare by providing secure, shaded parking for vehicles at this critical meteorological station serving the Namaqualand region.
Overview of the SAWS Carport Construction Tender
Published on 27 February 2026, this RFQ invites qualified and registered contractors with a CIDB grading of 1GB or higher to design, supply, and install a durable, weather-resistant carport structure. The Springbok office plays a vital role in collecting real-time meteorological data for early warning systems, climate monitoring, and public safety—making reliable on-site infrastructure essential.
Scope of Work and Technical Specifications
The appointed contractor will be responsible for:
- Site preparation and groundworks
