Eskom has issued an open Request for Bid under tender number E2144DXLPR for the supply and delivery of personal protective equipment (PPE) workwear to its Distribution Division operating units in Mpumalanga and Limpopo. The contract will run for five (5) years (60 months) on an “as and when required” basis, ensuring frontline staff have access to certified, compliant, and durable safety apparel. Submissions must be completed online via the Eskom e-Tendering portal by 10:00 on Friday, 13 March 2026.
A non-compulsory virtual briefing session will be held on 5 February 2026 at 13:00 via Microsoft Teams.
Scope of Supply: Comprehensive PPE Workwear Catalogue
The successful bidder will supply a wide range of PPE items, including:
- Flame-resistant coveralls, utility jackets, and thermal wear
- High-visibility vests and reflective gear
- Safety footwear, gloves, headwear, and eye protection
- Acid/alkali-resistant clothing and dust coats
- Specialised garments in multiple sizes (including extended sizing)
All items must comply with SANS/SABS standards, Eskom technical specifications, and local content requirements (100% local production mandated for all listed PPE items).
Mandatory Requirements and Compliance Documentation
Bidders must submit the following to be considered:
- Valid registration on the Central Supplier Database (CSD)
- SARS Tax Compliance PIN
- SANAS-accredited B-BBEE Certificate or sworn affidavit
- Proof of local manufacturing or authorised distribution for all PPE items
- Completed Standard Bidding Documents: SBD 4 (Declaration of Interest), SBD 6.1 (Preference Points Claim), and SBD 8 (Past SCM Practices)
- Product compliance certificates and test reports per Eskom specification
Joint ventures must ensure all partners meet these requirements.
Evaluation Process: Functionality and 80/20 Preference System
Proposals will undergo a two-stage evaluation:
- Functionality Assessment: Based on technical compliance, local content adherence, delivery capability, and past performance
- 80/20 Preferential Procurement Scoring:
- 80 points: Price (lowest compliant = 80; others scored proportionally)
- 20 points: Specific Goals (Black, women, youth, disability ownership, and SMME status)
Eskom intends to appoint two suppliers for Limpopo and two for Mpumalanga, forming a regional panel.
