The Luthuli Museum has published a Request for Quotation (RFQ) for the appointment of a roof specialising service provider to conduct repair work on its Administration Building, Security Guardhouse, and Nokukhanya Luthuli Resource Centre Building. This presents a targeted opportunity for CIDB-registered roofing contractors to secure a project with a national heritage institution.
Key Details and Submission Deadline
The RFQ, identified as LM 2026/0053, is open for submissions until 31 July 2026 at 13:00. Proposals must be submitted electronically via email to scmofficer@luthulimuseum.org.za. The museum will not accept hand-delivered proposals.
Compulsory Briefing Session
A compulsory site inspection meeting will take place on 23 July 2026 at 11:00 at the Luthuli Museum, 3233 Nokukhanya Luthuli Street, Groutville, KwaDukuza, 4450. Persons arriving after 11:15 will not be considered as having attended. Attendance is mandatory for bid consideration.
Project Scope
The Administration Building (253.3m²) and NLRC Building (263m²) feature Kliplok 700 roofing with seamless aluminium gutters. The security guardhouse has a concrete roof slab. All three buildings have experienced leakages causing ceiling damage. The scope includes removal of old sealant, waterproofing application, sealing expansion joints with Sikaflex-11 FC Purform, and applying 4mm Polyglass torch-on waterproofing membrane to the guardhouse slab.

Functionality and Price Evaluation
Bidders must achieve a minimum threshold of 70 points out of 100 in the functionality evaluation to proceed. Scoring is based on Company Accreditation (30 points), Company Experience (35 points), and Methodology/Project Approach (35 points). The 80/20 preference system applies for price and specific goals.
