The Luthuli Museum has issued a Request for Quotation (RFQ) under reference number LM 2026/0008 for the supply and delivery of custom medals and hired furniture for the Nokukhanya Luthuli Commemoration Chess Tournament, to be held on 7 March 2026 at the Luthuli Museum in Groutville, KwaDukuza, KwaZulu-Natal. The event celebrates youth engagement, heritage, and intellectual development in honour of Chief Albert Luthuli’s legacy. This is a short-term, high-visibility opportunity for local suppliers with experience in event logistics and commemorative merchandise.
Scope of Work: Custom Medals and Event Infrastructure
The successful service provider will deliver:
- 18 custom-designed medals across six categories (Gold, Silver, Bronze for Junior Primary, Senior Primary, and High School levels), each featuring:
- 50mm diameter metal medal with 45mm sticker insert
- Engraved text specifying category, gender, and “Nokukhanya Luthuli Commemorated Chess Tournament 2026”
- Official Chief Albert Luthuli Chess Club logo
- Event furniture for hire:
- 20 black plastic trestle tables (1.8m x 700mm)
- 90 heavy-duty black plastic chairs (stackable, 2.8kg each)
All items must be delivered to the Luthuli Museum on Friday, 7 March 2026, by 15:00, and collected on Saturday, 8 March 2026, by 17:00.
Mandatory Submission Requirements
To be considered, quotations must include:
- A formal quote on company letterhead with firm, VAT-inclusive pricing
- Valid SARS Tax Compliance PIN or clearance certificate
- Proof of registration on the Central Supplier Database (CSD)
- B-BBEE Certificate or sworn affidavit (Level 1–8 or EME/QSE)
- Completed Standard Bidding Document 4 (SBD 4 – Declaration of Interest)
- Confirmation that all goods comply strictly with the specifications
Quotations must be submitted exclusively via email—no hard copies, faxes, or postal submissions will be accepted.
Evaluation Criteria: 80/20 Preferential Procurement System
Quotations will be scored using the 80/20 system:
- 80 points: Price (lowest compliant quote = 80; others scored proportionally)
- 20 points: Specific Goals, including Black, women, youth, disability, and military veteran ownership
Only complete, responsive, and compliant submissions will be evaluated.
