Cape Agulhas Municipality invites qualified service providers to submit quotations for the supply and delivery of automotive batteries for a 12-month period. This Request for Quotation (Q26/2026/27) supports the municipality’s fleet management operations in Bredasdorp.
Tender Overview and Scope
The appointed service provider will supply various automotive batteries in sizes ranging from 616 to 682, including 12-volt models and agricultural variants. Estimated quantities are provided for evaluation purposes only and may vary during the contract period based on operational requirements. The municipality will install all new batteries, with the service provider only required to supply them, except in emergency circumstances where installation may be requested.
Mandatory Requirements
Bidders must submit the following documents to avoid disqualification:
- Completed and signed CAMBD 1, CAMBD 4, CAMBD 6.1, CAMBD 8, and CAMBD 9 forms
- Valid Tax Compliance Status PIN issued by SARS
- CSD registration number
- B-BBEE certificate or sworn affidavit
- Latest municipal account proving rates are not in arrears
- Authority of signatory document
- Documents of incorporation (CK2)
- Proof of registration with the Retail Motor Industry Organization
- Schedule of work satisfactorily carried out
- Completed Form of Offer and Acceptance
Technical Requirements
All batteries must be SABS approved and carry a warranty of at least one year. Delivery must be completed within 3 hours after receipt of an order. The municipality reserves the right to appoint an alternative bidder if the preferred bidder cannot supply within the required timeframe. Bidders must score a minimum of 21 points under pre-qualification, which is based on successfully completed work for three or more municipalities or state departments.
Pricing and Preference Points
The 80/20 preference point system applies. Price carries 80 points, while specific goals account for 20 points. Preference points are awarded for B-BBEE status level contributor (10 points) and locality of supplier (10 points). Prices must be inclusive of VAT, fixed for 12 months, and based on delivery to the Mechanical Workshop at the corner of Fabrieksweg and Patterson Street, Bredasdorp.

Bids close on Friday, 16 October 2026, at 12:00. Submissions must be placed in the tender box at Cape Agulhas Municipality, 1 Dirkie Uys Street, Bredasdorp, or posted to the Municipal Manager, PO Box 51, Bredasdorp, 7280. No faxes or emails will be accepted. No briefing session will be held.
