Scope of Work

The successful bidder will provide, deliver, and maintain indoor potted plants at seven merSETA offices nationally. All pots and plants will be supplied on a rental basis:

  • Head Office (Johannesburg): 150 mature indoor pot plants
  • Six Regional Offices: Approximately 12 indoor plants per region
  • Total: 222 pot plants

Plant Specifications and Examples

The attached Annexure 1 provides a list of potential plant varieties that must be offered, including both small, medium, and large options:

  • Small: Chinese Evergreen (Aglaonema commutatum)
  • Medium: Cast-Iron Plant (Aspidistra elatior), Dracaena fragrans (Massangeana), Epipremnum aureum, Dracaena Trifasciata, Fiddle Leaf
  • Large: Yucca (Yucca spp.), Chamaedorea elegans, Chinese fan palms (Livistona chinensis), and Arranged Premium artificial design green wall cover plants

Mandatory Requirements

Bidders must meet the following criteria:

  • Minimum of two years’ experience in the plant supply and maintenance industry (proven by a comprehensive company profile)
  • At least two contactable, signed reference letters from previous clients for similar work
  • Submission of a valid CSD number, BBBEE certificate, and fully completed SBD documents

Evaluation Process

The RFQ follows a three-stage evaluation process:

  • Stage 1: Compliance with administrative and mandatory requirements
  • Stage 2: Compliance with specifications
  • Stage 3: Price (80 points) and preference goals (20 points)

Preference Points

Specific goals and applicable points are awarded for:

  • Black People Ownership (51% or more): 6 points
  • Black Women Ownership (30% or more): 4 points
  • Black Youth Ownership (30% or more): 4 points
  • White Women Ownership (30% or more): 2 points
  • People with Disability (PwD) Ownership: 4 points
