Airports Company South Africa (ACSA) invites suitably qualified and experienced contractors to submit bids for the painting of runways, taxiways, aprons, service roads and parkings at King Phalo Airport (KPA) for a period of three years.
This Request for Quotation (RFQ), referenced as RFQ 12054, seeks to appoint a contractor to undertake painting and surface marking services at the airport, ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards . Bids close on 26 August 2026 at 13:00.
Non-Compulsory Briefing Session
A non-compulsory briefing and site inspection session will be held on 12 August 2026 at 14:00 PM at the Information Desk, King Phalo Airport. While attendance is not mandatory, it is recommended for bidders to familiarise themselves with the site and requirements. Bidders are required to bring an ID document or driver’s licence, safety boots, and a reflector vest for the site inspection, and should be aware that permit fees may apply.
Scope of Work
The primary scope involves the supply and application of paint and markings on airside and landside surfaces, including:
- Runways and Taxiways: Application of durable, aviation-grade paint and markings.
- Aprons: Painting and marking of aircraft parking and service areas.
- Service Roads and Parking Areas: General painting of road markings and parking lot lines.
The work is to be performed over a three-year period on an “as and when required” basis, ensuring all designated areas are properly maintained and marked as per airfield safety regulations .
CIDB Grading and Eligibility
Only tenderers who are registered with the CIDB in a contractor grading of 3SK or higher may submit tender offers . Bidders must also submit a valid Letter of Good Standing issued in accordance with COIDA.
Evaluation Criteria and Preference Points
The tender will be evaluated in stages. Bidders must achieve a minimum threshold of 70 points out of 100 in the functionality evaluation to be eligible for further consideration on Price and Preference . The 80/20 preference point system will be applied:
- 80 points: Allocated for price.
- 20 points: Allocated for specific goals, including B-BBEE status levels and majority-owned entities (Black youth, Black women, people with disabilities).

Submission Requirements
Bids must be submitted in hard copy (1 original) to the tender box at the King Phalo Airport Admin Offices, located at 66 Settlers Way, Greenfields, East London, 5201. The sealed envelope must be clearly marked with the bidder’s name, contact details, tender reference number (12054), and description. The submission must include a fully completed Form of Offer and Acceptance (C1.1).
