The Global Entrepreneurship Congress Africa (GEC+Africa) 2026 has reopened applications for its Provincial Pitch Competition, offering South African founders one final opportunity to secure a spot on Africa’s biggest entrepreneurial stage. This is your last chance to represent your province and gain continental exposure for your innovative startup or MSME .

Your Final Opportunity to Shine

Applications have been reopened, giving entrepreneurs from all nine (9) provinces one final opportunity to compete . This is a last call for founders who may have missed the initial window to apply.

Who Can Apply

The competition is open to two types of ventures:

  • Tech Startups: Pre-seed or seed stage businesses that already have at least a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) .
  • MSMEs: Post-revenue businesses that are already generating income .

Founders from Gauteng, Western Cape, KwaZulu-Natal, Eastern Cape, Free State, Limpopo, Mpumalanga, Northwest, and Northern Cape are invited to apply.

How the Competition Works

The competition follows a structured three-step approach:

  1. Provincial Selection: Adjudicators will select a total of five (5) national winners from the pool of provincial applicants .
  2. Final Pitch: The finalists will pitch their businesses LIVE at the GEC+Africa 2026 event, taking place in Cape Town on 16–17 September .
  3. Top Innovators: From the live finalists, the top three (3) innovators on the African stage will be selected.

Assessment Criteria

Applications will be evaluated on several key criteria to identify the most promising ventures:

  • Problem Statement: A clear identification of a real problem and its impact on the target market.
  • Value Proposition: A distinct solution with a clear competitive advantage.
  • Business Case: A viable and sustainable business model with a clear strategy .
  • Team Composition: A skilled team capable of executing the business model.
  • Minimum Viable Product: An effective MVP that showcases the value proposition .
  • Overall Pitch Quality: Preparation, pitch deck quality, and the ability to answer questions effectively.
