The Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa (PRASA) has issued a Request for Quotation (SGR/GERM & WEST CORRIDOR 2 – CLEAN-HORT 03/07/2026) for the appointment of two service providers. This strategic six-month contract targets professional facilities management firms to maintain cleanliness and hygiene across key transit hubs in the South Gauteng Region.
Scope of Works and Station Coverage
The mandate encompasses comprehensive daily cleaning, hygiene, and horticulture services. The scope covers Germiston Station (a super core station) and the West Area Corridor 2, which includes core, halt, small, and intermediate stations.
Key Service Areas
- Cleaning of station platforms, tracks, public areas, offices, toilets, waiting areas, and access points
- Horticultural maintenance including grass cutting, weed removal, and vegetation control
- Hygiene services including sanitation, waste collection, and disinfection of facilities
- Specialized cleaning of high surfaces (above 2.4 meters), glass, metal fittings, escalators, and other station infrastructure
- Adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations during all cleaning activities
- Operational coverage seven days a week, including public holidays, with flexible hours during peak periods
Mandatory Experience and Evaluation Criteria
Bidders must demonstrate proven expertise in large-scale facility management. Functionality scoring heavily rewards companies that have successfully executed cleaning or horticultural contracts valued at a minimum of R3,000,000 over the past five years. Bidders must submit valid appointment letters, purchase orders, and reference letters to validate their experience.

Bidders must submit the following mandatory documents:
Stage 1A Documents:
- Completed and signed closing/submission register
- Fully completed Price Schedule / Pricing form
- Completion of ALL RFQ documentation (including ALL declarations and SBD documents/forms)
- Joint Venture / Consortium agreement / Trust Deed (if applicable)
Stage 1B Documents:
- Valid B-BBEE certificate from a SANAS accredited rating agency or Sworn Affidavit
- Company Registration Documents (Certificate of Incorporation or CK1)
- Copies of Directors’ ID documents
- Valid Tax Clearance Certificate and Valid Tax Pin letter
- CSD Summary report / CSD reference number
- Proof of UIF registration
- Proof of Bank Account
- A Letter of Good Standing (COIDA)

Sealed quotation documents must be hand-delivered to the PRASA offices. Late or incomplete submissions will be strictly disqualified from the evaluation process.
