The South African Post Office (SAPO) has issued Request for Quotation RFQ 26/27/47/NM for the provision of national linehaul transportation services. This critical four-month contract targets experienced logistics and road freight providers to support SAPO’s hub-and-spoke postal distribution model.
Scope of Services and Network Support
The appointed service provider will facilitate the scheduled, special, and recovery linehaul transportation of consignments, bulk mail, pallets, and parcels between SAPO sites nationally. This mandate ensures the safe, reliable, and performance-managed movement of mail across the postal network.
Vehicle Categories and Pricing Model
Bidders must quote on a Cost Per Kilometre (CPK) basis, inclusive of VAT, aligned with transport industry benchmarks. The pricing schedule covers multiple vehicle categories, ranging from 1-ton vehicles to horse and 18-meter trailers.
Mandatory Experience and Lead Times
To qualify, bidders must possess a minimum of five years’ proven experience in linehaul, road freight, or parcel logistics. Submissions must include three client reference letters and confirm a maximum 14-working-day delivery lead time upon receipt of an award letter.
Submission Guidelines and Deadlines
Proposals must be submitted via email or hand-delivered to the SAPO Supply Chain Management office. Late submissions will be strictly rejected.
