The Limpopo Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (LDARD) has officially opened applications for the Limpopo Livestock Improvement Programme (Re-Sale Scheme) 2026/27. This strategic initiative invites emerging, subsistence, and smallholder farmers to participate in revitalizing the province’s agricultural sector following the devastating impacts of recent droughts and Foot-and-Mouth Disease (FMD) outbreaks.
Programme Objectives and Support Mechanism
To facilitate recovery, LDARD has set aside Quality Livestock Genetic Resources. Through the Re-Sale Scheme, breeding stock is made accessible to qualifying farmers at a prescribed developmental tariff, ensuring sustainable herd and flock revitalization.
Eligible Livestock and Target Beneficiaries
The scheme targets previously disadvantaged residents of Limpopo. Applications are currently open for specific high-quality breeding stock, including:
- Bonsmara and Nguni Cattle (males and females)
- Indigenous Sheep and Goat Breeds (males and females)
- Large White and Landrace Pigs (males and females)
Mandatory Documentation and Compliance
Applicants must submit a completely filled application form alongside a short project profile. Crucial supporting documents include:
- Certified copies of Identity Documents for all beneficiaries.
- Proof of land tenure (title deed, traditional authority allocation, or lease agreement).
- A certified copy of a Registered Brand Mark Certificate. Note: Current public servants and individuals who received similar government support in the past five years are strictly excluded.
