The South African Nuclear Energy Corporation (Necsa), a state-owned company at the forefront of nuclear science and technology, has published a Request for Quotation (RFQ) for the supply and delivery of boardroom tables. This presents a swift opportunity for furniture suppliers to engage with a prominent public entity.
The RFQ, identified as number Tables 01, was published on 21 June 2026 and carries a very tight turnaround, with a closing date of 25 June 2026 at 10:00. Suppliers are required to submit their quotations electronically via the eTenders portal.
Scope of Work and Requirements
The scope involves supplying 20 boardroom tables. The RFQ specifies that the tables must match the provided picture or an equivalent brand. Quotations must be completed in full, and incomplete quotes could result in disqualification. All prices quoted must be fixed and firm, including all applicable taxes and additional costs such as freight and insurance until acceptance.
Evaluation and Preference Points
This procurement will be evaluated using the 80/20 preference point system, where a maximum of 80 points is allocated for price and 20 points for specific goals related to the B-BBEE status level of the contributor. The RFQ states that a functionality or technical evaluation is applicable, and only responses that demonstrate an acceptable technical solution and achieve the required threshold will proceed to the second stage.
Required Documents for Submission
Suppliers must submit the following documentation with their quotation. Failure to provide these may result in disqualification:
- Tax Clearance Certificate (Tax PIN issued by SARS)
- Declaration of Interest (SBD 4)
- B-BBEE Certificate or applicable affidavit (if classified as an EME)
- Letter of Good Standing (COID) – only if applicable due to the nature of work
- Any other document or certification requested in the RFQ
How to Submit Your Quotation
Quotations must be submitted on or before the closing date and time through the eTenders E-submission portal. The quotation validity period is 90 days from the closing date. No goods or services should be delivered without an official Necsa purchase order. The purchaser reserves the right to cancel, reject, or not award the RFQ to the lowest bidder.

Important Compliance Notes
This RFQ is subject to Necsa’s General Conditions of Purchase, the Preferential Procurement Policy Framework Act 2000, the Preferential Procurement Regulations 2022, and the General Conditions of Contract. Failure to submit proof of B-BBEE status will be interpreted as not claiming preference points. By responding to this RFQ, the bidder acknowledges being fully conversant with all applicable conditions and agrees to supply in accordance therewith. Suppliers must also note that offering any gift, payment, or inducement to Necsa employees constitutes a material breach and may result in immediate termination of the agreement.
