Amatola Water Board has issued an open tender (AW2025/26/13) for the provision of polymeric chemicals for a period of three years. This critical procurement ensures the uninterrupted supply of performance-tested flocculants to various water treatment works across the Eastern Cape, safeguarding drinking water quality in compliance with SANS 241 standards.
Tender Overview and Strategic Scope
The state-owned water utility seeks a suitably experienced supplier to provide polymeric chemicals on a consignment stock basis. The successful bidder will play a vital role in maintaining optimal water treatment processes and ensuring final water turbidity does not exceed 1 NTU.
Mandatory Technical and Compliance Criteria
Bidders must be certified manufacturers or approved distribution agents. Mandatory requirements include:
- ISO 9000 Quality Standard Systems certification.
- “Drinkwater Approval” from an accredited body (e.g., NSF or Department of Health).
- Valid Central Supplier Database (CSD) registration.
Scope of Works and Delivery Requirements
The appointed service provider will handle the supply, delivery, offloading, and stock control of chemicals. Deliveries will service primary Amatola Water plants, including Nahoon, Laing, Peddie, Glenmore, Sandile, Debe, Binfield, and Masincedane WTWs. Bidders must also conduct plant jar tests and provide streaming current detector units to monitor chemical performance.
