The Eastern Cape Development Corporation (ECDC), in partnership with PUM Netherlands Senior Experts, will host a Biosecurity Seminar on 13 May 2026 in KuGompo City. The event is supported by the Eastern Cape Department of Economic Development, Environmental Affairs and Tourism (DEDEAT).

Addressing Foot-and-Mouth Disease Challenges

The ongoing Foot-and-Mouth Disease outbreak poses significant risks to trade, economic stability, and jobs across the agricultural value chain. This seminar directly addresses the need to protect and develop the province’s agri-industry, particularly the livestock sector, which is vital for rural development, food security, and export expansion. DEDEAT aims to safeguard downstream agro-processing through coordinated interventions.
