The Stellenbosch Climate-Smart Farming Support Programme is a targeted agricultural initiative delivered through collaboration between Stellenbosch Municipality, Stellenbosch Network, and TerraClim. This 12-month programme supports emerging and smallholder farmers in adopting climate-resilient practices through access to digital tools, environmental insights, and technical training.
Digital Tools and Climate Intelligence Benefits
Selected farmers receive comprehensive access to the TerraClim Web App, including:
- Personalised farm profiles with secure login and boundary setup support
- Climate and environmental data layers for informed decision-making
- Crop suitability and land potential analysis tools
- Climate risk insights covering drought, heat stress, and extreme weather events
- Training guides, introductory workshops, and planning report generation tools
- Support for farm planning, financing applications, and insurance readiness
Eligibility and Application Requirements
This opportunity is open to smallholder farmers, emerging farmers, agricultural cooperatives, and farming initiatives in the Stellenbosch region. Applicants must provide:
- Completed application form and South African ID or valid identification
- Proof of land access (lease, title deed, or municipal letter)
- Farm or company profile detailing location, size, and activities
- Basic farming experience and a short motivation outlining challenges and interest in climate-smart practices
Programme Objectives and Expected Outcomes
The programme aims to strengthen sustainable agricultural planning, improve farm-level climate resilience, and enhance productivity through data-driven decision-making. Participants will gain skills in climate-smart agriculture adoption, land use optimisation, and environmental sustainability practices that support long-term enterprise development.
Application Process and Deadline
A total of 10 farmers will be selected for this exclusive support programme. Applications must be submitted by 24 April 2026.
