The Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) has issued an Expression of Interest (EOI) under reference number CSIR EOI 8120/06/02/2026 to establish a pre-qualified panel of service providers capable of delivering comprehensive décor services and equipment for conferences, exhibitions, launches, and corporate events across its national footprint. The appointment will be valid for five (5) years, with successful suppliers engaged on an “as and when required” basis. Submissions must be emailed by 16:30 on Friday, 6 February 2026.
This is a strategic opportunity for professional event décor businesses to partner with one of Africa’s leading scientific research institutions.
Scope of Services: Full-Service Event Décor and Equipment Supply
The appointed panel will provide end-to-end décor solutions, including:
- Linen and soft furnishings (tablecloths, chair covers, draping)
- Furniture and seating (chairs, tables, lounges, staging)
- Floral arrangements and greenery installations
- Theming, props, backdrops, and branding elements
- Lighting, special effects, and ambient design
- On-site setup, supervision, and breakdown
Services may be required at the CSIR’s main campus in Pretoria, regional offices, or external venues nationwide.
Mandatory Qualifications and Experience Requirements
Bidders must demonstrate:
- A minimum of five (5) years of experience in the décor and event services industry
- Submission of three (3) verifiable client references from 2020–2025, with contact details
- CVs of key personnel, including a Décor Designer and Site Supervisor, each with at least 3 years of relevant experience
- A Portfolio of Evidence (POE) showcasing similar projects (photos, client names, dates, scope)
- Valid CSD registration and B-BBEE Certificate or sworn affidavit
Late or incomplete submissions will be disqualified.
Evaluation Criteria: Functionality-Based Scoring
Proposals will be scored on a 100-point functionality matrix:
- Company Profile & Industry Experience: 20 points
- Key Personnel (Designer + Supervisor): 30 points
- Client References (minimum 3): 30 points
- Portfolio of Evidence: 20 points
Only bidders scoring 70% or higher will be considered for panel appointment. Price is not evaluated at this stage—rates will be negotiated per assignment.
