The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has issued an open Request for Bid under reference SASSA: 04-25-GA-NW for the Appointment of a Panel of Accredited Service Providers to Supply and Deliver School Uniforms across the North West Province. This 36-month initiative supports SASSA’s Social Relief of Distress (SRD) programme, ensuring vulnerable learners receive essential schoolwear with dignity and timeliness. The tender was published on Monday, 1 December 2025, with a closing deadline of Monday, 12 January 2026 at 11:00 AM.
Tender Overview and Social Relief Mandate
As a Schedule 3A public entity, SASSA administers social grants and emergency relief to qualifying households. The provision of school uniforms forms a critical component of the SRD grant, aimed at reducing the financial burden on indigent families and promoting school attendance. This tender establishes a pre-qualified panel of service providers who will be engaged on an “as-and-when-required” basis based on verified beneficiary data from schools and SASSA offices in the four districts: Ngaka Modiri Molema, Bojanala, Dr Kenneth Kaunda, and Dr Ruth Segomotsi Mompati.
Scope of Uniform Supply and Delivery Requirements
The appointed suppliers will be responsible for:
- Consulting with schools to confirm uniform specifications before production
- Sourcing, manufacturing, and packaging standardised uniforms per child
- Delivering directly to specified addresses (usually schools or SASSA offices)
- Ensuring all items are SABS-compliant, weather-appropriate, and durable
Each uniform pack must be individually labelled with the child’s full name, school, and size, and include:
- Blazer, jersey, shirt/blouse, trousers/skirt
- Sport shorts and t-shirt
- School bag (30L × 13W × 45H cm), raincoat, and gumboots
All garments must meet the generic school uniform standards outlined in Annexure B of the tender document.
Technical Specifications and Packaging Standards
Uniforms must be made from appropriate, durable fabrics suitable for daily school use. Suppliers must ensure:
- Consistent sizing and quality across batches
- Correct school branding (where applicable)
- Secure, hygienic packaging that prevents damage or soiling
- No substitutions without prior written approval from SASSA
SASSA will not bear costs for incorrect, damaged, or non-compliant deliveries.
