The Eastern Cape Department of Health has issued an open tender (SCMU3-2627-0165-OR) for infrastructure improvements at the Nelson Mandela Academic Hospital (NMAH) in Mthatha. This strategic contract targets qualified construction firms to execute essential façade maintenance and repairs, ensuring a safe and dignified environment for patients and healthcare workers in the OR Tambo District.
Scope of Works and Healthcare Infrastructure
The appointed contractor will execute comprehensive building façade maintenance works at NMAH, located on Erf 2438, Sisson Street, Fort Gale, Mthatha. The mandate focuses on restoring the structural integrity and aesthetic appeal of the hospital buildings, directly contributing to improved healthcare facility standards.
Mandatory CIDB Grading and Compliance
Bidders must possess a valid Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) grading of 3GB or higher. Proposals will be evaluated on administrative compliance, functionality, and price. Strict adherence to the Occupational Health and Safety Act and JBCC contract conditions is required throughout the three-month construction period.

- Part C2.2: Bills of Quantities (fully priced, handwritten, no correction fluid)

- Project Manager CV (min NQF 6 qualification)
- Key personnel: OHS officer registered with SACPCMP; site foreman with at least 2 years’ experience

Attendance at the mandatory pre-bid clarification meeting is strictly enforced. Bidders who fail to attend will be automatically disqualified from the evaluation process.
