The Agricultural Research Council (ARC) invites qualified building maintenance contractors to submit quotations for the appointment of a service provider for repairs and installation of existing doors at the Animal Production Campus in Irene under RFQ API01REQ006529/2026. This procurement opportunity supports workplace safety compliance and infrastructure maintenance at one of South Africa’s premier agricultural research institutions.
Scope of Work and Deliverables
- Refit 5 doors with new wood panels, re-staining, and external steel plate cladding
- Refit 35 doors with new wood panels and re-staining only
- Removal and re-installation of 40 refurbished wooden doors
- All work must comply with Occupational Health and Safety requirements
Compulsory Briefing and Site Inspection
A mandatory briefing session will be held on Friday, 27 March 2026 at 10:30 at the ARC Animal Production Main Building, Old Olifantsfontein Road, Irene. Door schedules and specific locations will be provided during this session. Bidders who fail to attend will be automatically disqualified from the evaluation process.
Mandatory Administrative Requirements
- Valid Central Supplier Database (CSD) registration with MAAA number
- SARS Tax Compliance Status PIN or certificate
- UIF registration confirmation and valid COIDA Letter of Good Standing
- Certified CIPC company registration documents and director ID copies
- Valid CIDB Registration Certificate (GB1 grade minimum)
Technical Capability and Experience Criteria
Bidders must demonstrate proven experience in general building maintenance and carpentry work through:
- Company profile showcasing repairs and refurbishment expertise
- Reference letters or completion certificates for similar projects (minimum three)
- Details of contract values, durations, and contactable client references
Evaluation Process and Preference Points
Quotations undergo three-stage evaluation: administrative compliance, technical functionality assessment, and price evaluation using the 80/20 preference point system. Specific goals points (20) are allocated for HDI ownership, women participation, youth involvement, disability inclusion, and B-BBEE status levels 1-4.
