The National Radioactive Waste Disposal Institute (NRWDI) has issued a Request for Quotation (RFQ) under reference number NRWDI/COMM/2025-13 for the supply and delivery of hygiene packs for school girls in the Kamiesberg area of the Northern Cape. This initiative forms part of NRWDI’s broader corporate social investment (CSI) strategy to support education, dignity, and health among vulnerable youth in communities near its operational footprint.
Overview of the NRWDI School Hygiene Packs RFQ
Published on 4 March 2026, this RFQ invites compliant and registered suppliers to provide 100 complete hygiene packs containing essential personal care items for female learners. The project aligns with national efforts to reduce school absenteeism linked to menstrual health and promotes gender equity in education.
Scope of Supply: Pack Contents and Delivery Requirements
Each hygiene pack must include the following retail-quality, individually sealed items:
- Sanitary pads: 3 packs of 10 per learner (total 30 pads)
- Toothbrush (adult size, sealed)
- Toothpaste (min. 100ml tube)
- Body wash (min. 400ml bottle)
- Face/wash cloth (cotton, min. 30cm x 30cm)
- Roll-on deodorant (min. 50ml, unisex)
- Body lotion or petroleum jelly (min. 200ml / 250ml)
- Nail clipper (stainless steel)
- Comb (durable plastic)
- Hand sanitiser (min. 100ml bottle)
- Reusable branded drawstring bag (min. 30cm x 40cm, durable fabric)
All items must be new, non-expired, and suitable for school use. The reusable bag must prominently feature NRWDI branding, which will be provided by the Institute upon shortlisting.
Delivery must be made to Springbok, Northern Cape, between 18–22 March 2026, as coordinated with NRWDI.

Mandatory Documentation and Compliance Criteria
To be considered responsive, bidders must include:
- Valid SARS Tax Compliance PIN
- Proof of registration on the Central Supplier Database (CSD)
- B-BBEE certificate or sworn affidavit (EME/QSE acceptable)
- Fully completed Standard Bidding Document (SBD 4 – Declaration of Interest)
- Quotation on official company letterhead, signed and dated
- Confirmation that all products are retail quality and within expiry dates
All pricing must be firm, inclusive of delivery and VAT, and valid for 60 working days from the closing date.
Evaluation Methodology and Preference Point Allocation
This RFQ will be evaluated under the 80/20 Preferential Procurement System:
- 80 points for competitively priced, compliant offers
- 20 points for specific empowerment goals:
- Black ownership
- Women ownership
- Youth ownership
- Disability ownership
Preference claims must be supported by certified documentation from the CSD report and B-BBEE affidavit. Unverified claims receive zero points.
