Comprehensive Scope of Work
The project covers tree felling, vegetation clearing, stump treatment, and biomass removal across airside operational areas and the solar plant at Kimberley Airport. Key requirements include:
- Airside Tree Felling: Remove trees penetrating approach surfaces, take-off climb surfaces, runway strip protection areas, and other ICAO Annex 14 obstacle limitation surfaces
- Solar Plant Management: Clear vegetation causing shading, interfering with access roads, fencing, and electrical infrastructure
- Alien Invasive Control: Identify and remove species including Black Wattle, Port Jackson, Eucalyptus, Syringa, Jacaranda, and Lantana using approved herbicides and control methods
- Stump Treatment: Apply herbicides immediately after cutting to prevent coppicing and regrowth
- Biomass Disposal: Chip branches, remove all cut material, and dispose at approved facilities with proper waste disposal records
Mandatory Compliance Requirements
All work must comply with airside safety regulations including mandatory induction, airside permits, and radio communication requirements. Bidders must submit a valid Safety File as per the OHS Act of 1993 and Construction Regulations of 2014.

Submission and Evaluation
The RFQ will be evaluated using the 80/20 preference point system, with price accounting for 80 points and B-BBEE specific goals accounting for the remaining 20 points. Required documentation includes SBD forms, B-BBEE certificate, Tax PIN or CSD number, and a signed Confidentiality and Non-Disclosure Agreement.
All submissions must be emailed to acsarfq@airports.co.za and broken into multiple attachments of 4MB each. Quotes must remain valid for 120 business days.
