Transnet Rail Infrastructure Manager has published a Request for Quotation (RFQ) for the supply, delivery, and installation of clear-view high-security fencing at the Krugersdorp Depot. The tender, designated TRIM/2026/06/1186/6479/RFQ, seeks a qualified contractor to secure the railway line in the Magaliesburg area under a contract based on the NEC3 Engineering and Construction Contract.
Tender Overview
The primary objective is to appoint a contractor to supply and install clear-view welded mesh high-security fencing along the railway line under the geographical control of Krugersdorp Depot in Gauteng. Bids must be submitted electronically via the Transnet e-Supplier Portal by 25 September 2026 at 10:00 AM. A compulsory site briefing is scheduled for 08 September 2026 at 10:00 AM at the Magaliesburg site (GPS coordinates: -26.001484, 27.547611). Tenderers are required to provide their own transportation and accommodation, and failure to attend will result in disqualification.
Scope of Work
The scope encompasses the supply and installation of clear-view fence panels, posts, anti-tamper fixings, concrete foundations, and all ancillary components. Key requirements include:
- Clear-view welded mesh panels with a 76mm x 25mm aperture, wire diameter 3.0mm horizontal x 4.0mm vertical, and V-bend reinforcement.
- Zinc aluminium coated posts installed vertically in 25MPa concrete foundations to a minimum depth of 600mm.
- Anti-tamper cover plate fixing system, mounted from the front side only.
- A minimum installed height of 2.4m measured from final ground level to the top of the fence panel.
- Removal and safe disposal of existing fencing material.
Key Requirements
Bidders must be registered with the CIDB in a contractor grading designation of 3SQ or higher. Attendance at the compulsory site briefing is mandatory. A valid Tax Clearance Certificate, B-BBEE Certificate or sworn affidavit, CSD registration, and Letter of Good Standing with the Workmen’s Compensation Fund must be submitted. Tenderers must also provide proof of previous experience in similar scope of work.
Evaluation Process
The 80/20 preference point system applies, with 80 points for price and 20 points for specific goals (B-BBEE Level 1 or 2 contributor: 10 points, 30% Black Women Owned Entities: 5 points, 50% Black Youth Owned Entities: 5 points). Tenders are valid for 12 weeks from closing. Transnet reserves the right to conduct due diligence on the preferred bidder.
