The Industrial Development Corporation of South Africa Limited, on behalf of Foskor, has issued Request for Proposal FOSPHB-RFP-20-26/27 for the provision of load and haul services at the North Pit. This strategic five-year contract targets experienced mining contractors to support Foskor’s annual mining targets in Limpopo.
Scope of Works and Services
Foskor operates two open pit mines, the North Pit and South Pit. The North Pit is mined using a traditional truck and shovel method . The estimated annual mining tonnages are:
- North Pit Ore: 5.2 million tonnes per annum
- North Pit Waste: 2.34 million tonnes per annum
- Total Rock: 7.54 million tonnes per annum
Scope A: Load and Haul Services
Contractor provides equipment, labour, maintenance, supervision and operational management on a dry mining rate basis. Includes:
- Loading and hauling ore and waste from the pit
- Re-handling from stockpiles
- Block preparation
- Haul road and dump maintenance
- Pit dewatering management
Scope B: Equipment Rental
Contractor provides and maintains mining equipment on an hourly-rate basis. Includes:
- Equipment fleet as specified
- Maintenance, repairs and component replacements
- Technical support to achieve fleet availability targets
- Foskor provides operators and production supervision
Minimum Equipment Requirements
Scope A (Contractor operated):
- 2 Backhoe Excavators (min. 140t operating weight)
- 1 Front End Loader (min. 11 cubic meters)
- 11 Rigid Body Dump Trucks (100t class)
- 2 Track Dozers (min. 80t operating weight)
- 2 Motor Graders (min. blade width 4m)
- 2 Water Carts (min. 35,000L capacity)
- 1 Diesel Bowser (min. 18,000L)
- 1 Tire Dozer (min. 60t operating weight)
Scope B (Foskor operated):
Same equipment fleet provided by Contractor, with Foskor supplying operators.
All equipment must be equipped with Level 9 Collision Avoidance Systems (CAS) including Pedestrian Detection System (PDS) and Vehicle Intervention System (VIS) as per Mine Health and Safety Act requirements.
Compulsory Briefing Session
Attendance at the pre-bid clarification meeting is strictly mandatory. Bidders who fail to attend and sign the register will be summarily disqualified from the evaluation process.
