Airports Company South Africa (ACSA) has issued a Request for Proposals for cleaning and hygiene services at King Shaka International Airport (KSIA) in Durban. This is a 12-month contract opportunity for experienced cleaning service providers.

Tender Overview and Key Dates

The RFP, numbered KSIA8153/2026/RFP, was published on 10 July 2026, with bids closing on 17 August 2026 at 12:00 . A non-compulsory briefing session will be held on 20 July 2026 at 11:00 via Microsoft Teams, followed by a non-compulsory site inspection on 22 July 2026 at 11:00 at the airport . Scope of Work

The successful bidder will provide comprehensive cleaning services across the entire airport precinct, including the terminal building (domestic and international arrivals and departures, landside and airside), Multi-Storey Office Block, Multi-Storey Parkade, ARFF Building, maintenance buildings, cooling tower, and external landside areas .

Services include:

  • General cleaning (under 2.5m height)
  • Specialised cleaning (auto scrubbing, deep cleaning of carpets and ablutions, high-pressure cleaning)
  • High access cleaning (rope access/abseiling, high-level facade cleaning)
  • Hygiene services
  • Provision of cleaning consumables, materials, and machinery

Evaluation Criteria

Bids will be evaluated using a staged approach, with a functionality threshold of 65 points out of 100. Functionality criteria include:

  • Experience in Comparative Services (50 points): Bidders must provide at least three references for contracts with a minimum value of R4 million and a duration of one year or more.
  • Key Personnel Experience (40 points): Contract Manager/Site Manager and Assistant Site Manager with relevant experience in cleaning services.

Bidders must fully complete Tables 1, 2, and 3 (pages 45, 47, and 48 of the bid document) – failure to do so will lead to disqualification.
