Airports Company South Africa (ACSA) has issued Request for Quotation RFQ 16647 (B) for fence repairs and maintenance at King Phalo Airport in Gqeberha. This strategic 36-month contract targets qualified construction and security fencing firms to uphold the perimeter integrity of the Eastern Cape aviation hub.
Scope of Works and Security Mandate
The appointed contractor will execute fence repairs and maintenance on an “as and when required” basis. This mandate is critical for ensuring the continuous security of the airport’s perimeter, safeguarding passengers, staff, and aviation assets against unauthorized access.
Mandatory CIDB Grading and Compliance
Bidders must possess a valid Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) grading of 1SQ or higher. Proposals will be evaluated on administrative compliance, functionality, and price.
Comprehensive Returnable Documents
Bidders must submit extensive returnable documents, including:
- Certificate of Attendance (though no briefing session is scheduled)
- Schedule of recent experience and completion certificates
- Valid Letter of Good Standing (COIDA)
- SARS Tax Compliance Status PIN
- Bank letter and Letter of Solvency
- CIDB registration and CIPC documents
- B-BBEE Verification Certificate or Sworn Affidavit
- CVs and qualifications of key personnel
Compulsory Site Inspection
While no formal briefing session is scheduled, the tender documentation mandates a compulsory site inspection to assess the airport’s specific security infrastructure requirements. Bidders must bring valid ID, safety boots, and a reflector vest, and should note that permit fees will be applicable for site access.
