Eskom has issued an open tender (E3167DXWCOU) for Vegetation Management Services within the Eskom Distribution Cape Coastal Cluster in the Western Cape. This critical infrastructure maintenance contract targets specialized environmental and land management service providers to safeguard the regional power grid against environmental hazards.

Scope of Works and Grid Protection

The appointed panel will execute comprehensive vegetation control around high-voltage power lines, transmission corridors, and substations. This proactive clearing prevents electrical outages, mitigates wildfire risks, and ensures an uninterrupted electricity supply to the coastal communities reliant on the Cape Coastal Cluster.

Scope of Work and Technical Requirements

The scope requires a comprehensive approach to vegetation management, including bush clearing, grass cutting, tree felling, and herbicide application. Tenderers must demonstrate capacity across multiple areas:

  • Company Relevant Experience: A full list of at least three previous vegetation projects, including project name, line length, voltage, and contactable references
  • Organogram: A detailed team structure comprising a supervisor, brush cutter, chainsaw operator, Pest Control Officer (PCO), and general worker
  • Training and Accreditation: Valid certificates for all team members, including 6x chainsaw unit standards, 4x high-risk tree felling certificates, brush cutter, pruner, and tree identification certifications
  • Resources: Minimum one 7-seater vehicle with trailer, two functional brush cutters, two functional chainsaws, a combi-can, and a functional herbicide applicator
  • Safety Equipment: Fire extinguishers, first aid kits, and full PPE for all team members (safety boots, hardhats, gloves, safety glasses, and overalls)

Mandatory Requirements

Failure to meet any mandatory requirement will result in disqualification:

  • Technical Mandatory: Valid PCO certificate and signed appointment letter (one PCO licence per team)
  • Commercial Mandatory: Completed NEC with price list
  • CSD Registration: Proof of registration on the Central Supplier Database
