The Department of Water and Sanitation (DWS) has issued a Request for Quotation (WTE-2613ES) for the provision of medical surveillance services for its Eastern Operations. This strategic 24-month contract targets accredited occupational health providers to ensure the safety, health, and well-being of DWS personnel across its regional facilities.
Scope of Services and Contract Duration
The Medical Surveillance Programme includes comprehensive health assessments, wellness workshops, and follow-up care. Services to be provided per employee include:
- Physical examination with vitals (blood pressure, urine tests, glucose, height, weight, BMI)
- Chest X-rays with reports
- Spirometry (lung function test)
- Audiometry (hearing test)
- Vision screening (Keystone vision screen with report)
- Cholesterol monitoring and HBA1C testing
- Fitness for Duty Certificates and referral letters
- Health and wellness awareness workshops covering burnout prevention, stress management, work-life balance, nutrition, and fitness
Annual medical examinations will be conducted onsite at Midmar Dam (Howick) and Klipfontein Dam (Vryheid) in the service provider’s mobile medical units. Entry and exit medicals will be conducted at the service provider’s premises within a 150km radius of Midmar Dam.
Mandatory Requirements
Failure to meet any mandatory requirement will result in disqualification:
- Valid certificate of practice with the Board of Health Funders
- Proof of a medical unit within a 150km radius from Midmar Dam
- Bill of Quantities (fully completed and signed)
- SBD 3.1 (fully completed and signed)
