The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has issued an open tender (SASSA: 03-26-GA-WC) for the accreditation of independent health practitioners in the Western Cape. This strategic three-year contract aims to ensure the effective, efficient, and dignified assessment of disability-related grant applications across the region.
Scope of Services and Target Disciplines
The appointed practitioners will conduct medical and functional assessments to determine eligibility for disability grants. The agency mandates that the processing of social grants must be sensitive and restore beneficiary dignity. SASSA specifically seeks to accredit a diverse range of professionals, including:
- Medical Practitioners and Clinical Associates
- Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists
- Audiologists, Speech Therapists, and Psychologists
Mandatory Compliance and Screening
To qualify, bidders must hold current, active registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) and possess a minimum of two years of working experience in their respective fields. Successful practitioners will enter into a formal Service Agreement. Additionally, SASSA reserves the right to conduct security screenings via the State Security Agency (SSA) for all shortlisted candidates.

Mandatory Compliance Documents:
- Proof of current registration with HPCSA indicating active status as a Health Practitioner
- Curriculum Vitae indicating minimum 2 years working experience as a Health Practitioner
- Valid Tax Compliance Status PIN or CSD number
- Proof of CSD registration (MAAA number)
- B-BBEE Certificate or Sworn Affidavit (for EMEs/QSEs)
Non-Compulsory Briefing Session
A clarification meeting will be held to guide prospective applicants through the terms of reference.
