Transnet seeks 3-week employee transport in Richards Bay

Transnet SOC Ltd, operating as Transnet Port Terminals, invites qualified transport service providers to submit bids for the provision of employee transportation services at Richards Bay for a period of three weeks. This Request for Quotation (TPT/2026/04/0277/4102/RFQ) targets established transport operators capable of delivering reliable, safe, and compliant shuttle services to support operational continuity at the port facility.

Service Requirements and Vehicle Specifications

The appointed service provider will supply appropriate passenger vehicles for employee commuting, including:

  • 65-seater buses, 35-seater mini buses, 22-seater taxis, and 13-seater taxis as per operational demand
  • Professional, licensed drivers with valid PDP certifications
  • Vehicles meeting roadworthiness standards and passenger safety regulations
  • Flexible scheduling to align with shift patterns and operational requirements
  • Coverage across designated pickup points within the Richards Bay area

Eligibility and Compliance Criteria

Bidders must demonstrate:

  • Valid registration on the National Treasury Central Supplier Database (CSD)
  • Proof of operating licence for passenger transport services
  • Valid COIDA Letter of Good Standing and occupational health compliance
  • B-BBEE verification certificate or sworn affidavit for preference point allocation
  • Evidence of previous experience in corporate or institutional transport services

Submission Guidelines and Portal Access

Proposals must be submitted electronically via the Transnet e-Tender Submission Portal by 13:00 on Tuesday, 14 April 2026. Bidders should:

  • Register or log in at transnetetenders.azurewebsites.net
  • Search for tender reference TPT/2026/04/0277/4102/RFQ
  • Upload bid documents (maximum 30MB per upload; multiple uploads permitted)
  • Submit at least 24 hours before closing to avoid technical delays

Evaluation and Pricing Framework

Quotations will be evaluated based on price competitiveness, technical capability, and compliance with specification requirements. All pricing must be firm, quoted in South African Rand, and inclusive of VAT. Transnet reserves the right to negotiate pricing or award based on best value rather than lowest price alone.
