The Cooperative Development Support Programme (CDSP) has opened applications for its latest funding cycle, offering 50 cooperatives grant funding for operational growth and sustainability.
Managed by the Small Enterprise Development Finance Agency (SEDFA), this programme aims to strengthen the cooperative sector through targeted support for production efficiencies, product quality improvement, and business scaling.
Cooperatives across South Africa are encouraged to apply before the 20 March 2026 deadline.

Programme Overview
The CDSP is designed to help cooperatives formalize and expand their operations. Key objectives include:
- Achieving production efficiencies
- Improving product quality
- Scaling up operations
The programme seeks to create lasting impact in the cooperative sector, fostering job creation and economic participation at community level.
Funded Interventions
Successful applicants will receive funding support in the following areas. All interventions must be directly linked to the cooperative’s core functions:
- Machinery, equipment, raw materials, or stock
- Commercial vehicles linked to core business functions
- Information and Communication Technology (ICT) infrastructure
- Infrastructure upgrades such as irrigation systems and boreholes
- Training and capacity building for management and members
Notably, the programme explicitly excludes funding for brick-and-mortar construction or non-productive assets.
Application Requirements
Supporting documents required include:
- CIPC registration and constitution
- SARS tax compliance certificate
- Latest bank statement and financials (or projected statements for new cooperatives)
- Three comparable quotations from CSD-registered suppliers
- Certified ID copies and CVs of directors
- Minutes authorising the application
Applications must be submitted to the relevant provincial email address (e.g., fscsp@sedfa.org.za for Free State) by 20 March 2026.
