The National Museum Bloemfontein has issued a Request for Quotation (gutter 1/26) for the once-off replacement of gutters at the historic Oliewenhuis Art Museum. This targeted infrastructure upgrade aims to protect the prestigious heritage building from water damage and ensure its long-term preservation.
Scope of Works and Heritage Compliance
The appointed contractor will undertake the replacement of gutters at the Oliewenhuis Art Museum.
Key activities include:
- Removal of existing gutters and downpipes
- Supply and installation of new gutters and downpipes as per the Bill of Quantities
- Seamless sheetmetal system of the same profile as existing
- Box gutter lining
- All work as directed by the appointed project architect or project management company
The Oliewenhuis Art Museum collects exclusively South African art, with a permanent collection featuring works by prominent artists such as Pierneef and Thomas Baines . The museum’s gardens, sculpture park, and The Reservoir exhibition space are key attractions . All work must be carried out with due care to preserve the heritage and architectural integrity of this iconic building.
Mandatory Requirements
Bidders must submit the following documents with their quotation. Failure to comply may result in disqualification.
Compulsory Documents:
- Company profile and track record in repairs and refurbishment of general buildings
- Minimum 3 contactable written reference letters or completion certificates for similar previous work
- Valid CIDB registration certificate (grading 2GB or higher)
- Valid registration or membership with ECSA or SACPCMP for the project leader
- CIPC registration documents
- Letter of Good Standing from COIDA
- Health and Safety Plan
- CV and qualifications of the Construction Manager or project lead
- CSD supplier report
- SBD 1, SBD 2, SBD 3.3, SBD 4, SBD 6.1, SBD 8, and SBD 9
- BOQ Pricing Schedule
- Public liability insurance of R500,000

Bidders must submit their official price quotes in a sealed envelope. Submissions may be posted to the museum’s postal address or deposited directly into the official bid box to ensure secure and transparent processing.
