The Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa (PRASA) invites qualified service providers to submit quotations for the supply, delivery, and installation of heavy-duty extractor fans and associated accessories across multiple locations in the KwaZulu-Natal region. This six-month contract opportunity, reference KZN/PRASA/2026/05/02/Q, targets experienced HVAC contractors capable of delivering compliant ventilation solutions for critical rail infrastructure.
Tender Overview
The project covers installation works at Bridge City traction substation, Parcels, Concourse 1, and Concourse 2 distribution substations. Successful bidders must supply heavy-duty extractor fans meeting PRASA technical specifications, complete professional installation, and provide all associated accessories required for operational readiness.
Scope of Work
Installation sites include:
- Bridge City Traction Substation – 2 fans
- Parcels Distribution Substation – 4 fans
- Concourse 1 Distribution Substation – 2 fans
- Concourse 2 Distribution Substation – 2 fans
Total fans to be installed: 10 units
Technical Specifications (Heavy-Duty Extractor Fan)
- 550 Watts
- 3 Phase, 400V
- Exhaust Fan
- Diameter 950mm
- Automated with room temperature adjustable sensor
- Replaceable air filter
- All bolts and nuts must be stainless steel
Additional work includes sealing insulating foam or cement on all pipes and cable conduits in each building.
Compulsory Briefing and Site Inspection
Attendance at the mandatory briefing session is non-negotiable for bid consideration. The session takes place on Thursday, 21 May 2026, at 10:00 at PRASA Regional Offices, 65 Masabalala Yengwa Avenue, Greyville, Durban Station, Shosholoza Meyl Waiting Area. Bidders must provide their own safety clothing (boots and reflector vests) and transport for site visits to various locations.

- Include valid Central Supplier Database (CSD) registration and tax compliance documentation

- Provide proof of relevant experience in mechanical ventilation or HVAC installations
