Mintek Seeks Security Service Provider for 4-Year Contract

Mintek invites qualified security service providers to bid for the provision of comprehensive security services at its premises in Randburg, Gauteng. This open tender (MTK 17/2026) supports Mintek’s operational needs for a period of four years.

Tender Overview and Scope

The appointed service provider will be responsible for safeguarding Mintek assets, property, and people. The scope includes 24-hour security services, crime prevention, armed tactical response, access control, security patrols with tracking systems, emergency response, incident investigation, and VIP escorting. The service provider must also conduct physical security threat and risk assessments every six months, manage traffic and parking, and submit monthly security status reports.

Mandatory Requirements

Bidders must submit the following documents to avoid disqualification:

  • Completed and signed MTF 01, MTF 02, MTF 03, MTF 04, MTF 05, and MTF 06 forms
  • Completed SBD 4 Bidder’s Disclosure and SBD 6.1 Preference Points Claim Form
  • Central Supplier Database (CSD) registration report
  • Valid Tax Compliance Status PIN issued by SARS
  • Valid PSIRA registration certificates for all security personnel
  • Section 20 business-purpose firearm licences for all weapons
  • Public liability insurance cover of at least R1 million per claim
  • Certified proof of COIDA registration
  • Joint venture agreement signed by all parties (if applicable)

Technical Evaluation

Bidders must achieve a minimum functionality score of 70 points out of 100. Scoring criteria include experience with three reference letters (35 points), key personnel experience including site manager, supervisors, control room operators, and tactical response (55 points), and contingency planning with physical security threat risk assessment (10 points).

Pricing and Preference Points

The 80/20 preference point system applies. Price carries 80 points, while specific goals account for 20 points. Specific goals include South African ownership (4 points), 51% black ownership (8 points), 30% black women ownership (4 points), 30% black youth ownership (2 points), and 30% black people with disability ownership (2 points).

Submission Details and Deadline

Bids close on Wednesday, 18 November 2026, at 12:00. Submissions must be made online via the Mintek Online Tender Box at https://secure.sabeezdms.com/organisation/view/5496. No late, faxed, or emailed submissions will be accepted. A non-compulsory briefing session will be held on Tuesday, 20 October 2026, at 11:00 at Mintek G4 Meeting Room, 200 Malibongwe Dr, Praegville, Randburg, 2194.
