Bergrivier Municipality invites qualified service providers to submit quotations for the hiring of a 20-ton long arm excavator for housekeeping at Velddrif Wastewater Treatment Works (WWTW). This Request for Quotation (8/2/53-2026 / MN229-2026) supports the municipality’s operational needs in Velddrif, Western Cape.
Tender Overview and Scope
The appointed service provider will hire out a 20-ton long arm excavator for general housekeeping and loading at Velddrif WWTW. A 10m³ tipper truck is also required to transport loads to and from the next-door transfer station. The excavator must be a Komatsu PC 200 (2009 model or newer) or equivalent, with a net power of not less than 110 kW and a reach between 13 and 15 meters. The preferred bucket is a sieve/skeleton bucket with a normal bucket for clearing reeds and overgrowth.
Mandatory Requirements
Bidders must submit the following documents to avoid disqualification:
- Completed and signed quotation document
- Valid Tax Compliance Status PIN or CSD registration number
- Originally certified B-BBEE certificate or sworn affidavit
- Documentation of the excavator and operator (operator certificate and medical)
- Documentation for the truck (Natis document) and driver’s license
- At least three contactable references of similar projects completed within the last five years
- Latest municipal account of the bidder and directors (not older than 90 days)
- Completed MBD 1, MBD 3.2, MBD 4, MBD 6.1, MBD 7.1, MBD 8, MBD 9, and MBD 10 forms
Technical Requirements
The hire rate must include all costs (wet rate) including operator, fuel, security, and accommodation. The machine must have a working hour meter fitted and be available within five working days after order or call-out email. A penalty of R1,000 per day will apply for each day the excavator or truck is not available after the fifth working day. Machine hours will be checked at start and end for claims and payments.
Pricing and Preference Points
The 80/20 preference point system applies. Price carries 80 points, while specific goals account for 20 points. Specific goals include B-BBEE status level contributor (10 points) and locality (10 points). Locality points are awarded for businesses within Bergrivier Municipality (10 points), West Coast District (5 points), Western Cape Province (3 points), or South Africa (2 points).
Submission Details and Deadline
Quotations close on Thursday, 08 October 2026, at 12:00. Submissions must be placed in the bid box at Bergrivier Municipality, 13 Kerk Street, Piketberg, 7320, or posted to PO Box 60, Piketberg, 7320. Late, faxed, or emailed quotations will not be accepted. No briefing session will be held.
