KZN COGTA Seeks Office Furniture Panel for 36-Month Contract

Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal – The KwaZulu-Natal Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (COGTA) has issued an open tender (ZNT2074/2026LG) for the appointment of a panel of service providers for the manufacturing, supply, delivery, and installation of office furniture for a period of thirty-six (36) months. This panel will serve departmental offices and traditional institutions across the province.

Project Scope and Furniture Requirements

The successful panel members will provide a comprehensive range of office furniture on an as-and-when-required basis, including:

  • Office desks, executive desks, workstations, and reception desks
  • Filing cabinets, mobile pedestals, credenzas, bookcases, and storage units
  • Executive, managerial, staff, reception, boardroom, and visitors’ chairs
  • Auditorium seating and ergonomic chairs
  • Boardroom tables, meeting tables, and training room furniture
  • Whiteboards, notice boards, coat stands, and magazine racks
  • Custom-built furniture and disaster management centre furniture

All furniture must comply with applicable SABS standards, with designated products requiring specific local content percentages.

Minimum Eligibility Requirements

Bidders must meet strict eligibility criteria or face disqualification:

  • Demonstrate core business of office furniture manufacturing, supply, delivery, and installation
  • Non-manufacturing companies must submit a written agreement with a manufacturing company
  • Proof of warehouse facilities (ownership or lease agreement)
  • Minimum five signed reference letters for similar projects completed within the last three years
  • Minimum one 1-ton vehicle and one 4-ton truck (owned, financed, or via signed logistics agreements)

Submission Details

Sealed tenders must be deposited in the tender box at the Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, Lift Area, 13th Floor, North Tower, Natalia Building, 330 Langalibalele Street, Pietermaritzburg, 3201, before 11:00 on Monday, 26 October 2026. Bids must remain valid for 120 days.

Panel Arrangement and Evaluation

A minimum of six service providers is required to establish the panel. Work will be allocated through a secondary quotation process. Price and preference points will not be evaluated during panel establishment but will apply during mini-competitions. The department reserves the right to select specific goals including HDP, women-owned, disability-owned, youth-owned, and KZN-based enterprises.
