Sentech Seeks Waterproofing Contractor for Riversdale Site

Sentech Limited has issued Request for Quotation RFX6000003490 for the appointment of a suitably qualified and experienced contractor to render waterproofing services at the Riversdale transmitter site. This specialized infrastructure maintenance contract targets professional waterproofing enterprises to protect critical broadcast transmission facilities in the Western Cape.

Scope of Works and Site Requirements

The project objective is to restore the waterproofing integrity of the concrete roof and external walls . The works include:

  • Roof Preparation and Repairs: Removing existing waterproofing membranes and loose materials, cleaning surfaces, and disposing of demolition waste .
  • Drainage and Outlet Treatment: Inspecting and clearing full-bore outlets with CCTV, removing leaf guards, and dressing new membranes into outlet throats .
  • Crack Repairs and Screeds: Repairing substrate cracks and voids, removing defective screeds, and installing new screeds (approx. 50 mm thick) with crystalline admixture, forming minimum falls of 1:100 towards outlets .
  • Waterproofing System: Supplying and installing a 4 mm dual reinforced torch-on waterproofing membrane, fully bonded to all roof surfaces, upstands, flashings, and penetrations .
  • External Walls: Surface preparation, crack repairs, waterproofing treatment, and application of a premium elastomeric/rubber-based waterproof paint over an area of approximately 880 m² .

Contractor Requirements

Bidders must meet the following mandatory and functional criteria:

  • CIDB Grading: A valid CIDB certificate with grading 1SN or higher .
  • COIDA Compliance: A valid Letter of Good Standing from the Department of Labour/FEM .
  • Experience: A list of completed waterproofing projects as the main contractor, with completion certificates .
  • Personnel: CVs for a site foreman/supervisor with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in general building and maintenance .
  • Project Programme: A detailed Gantt chart programme showing all key activities, resources, links between tasks, and a critical path .

Compulsory Site Inspection Protocols

Attendance at the mandatory site briefing is strictly enforced. Bidders must meet with a Sentech representative at the Riversdale Shell garage before proceeding to the transmitter site. Access to Sentech sites is primarily via gravel roads, and contractors are requested to use 4×4 vehicles for safe site access.
