The Western Cape Department of Health and Wellness has issued open tender GSH:PT56/2026 for the supply and delivery of beef products to Groote Schuur Hospital. This strategic two-year contract targets reputable, compliant meat suppliers to support the nutritional needs of the hospital’s main kitchen.
Scope of Supply and Delivery
The appointed service provider will be responsible for the supply and delivery of beef products to the hospital’s main kitchen for a period of two years.

Key Requirements
- Product Quality: All products must be 100% pure beef, free from fillers, preservatives, and additives. Products must be made from Grade A or AB beef and contain a maximum of 10% fat.
- Freshness: Only fresh meat will be accepted; frozen or previously frozen products will not be accepted.
- Packaging: Products must be packed in 10 kg sealed, food-grade plastic packaging, clearly displaying the brand name, production date, batch number, expiry date, and Halal sign.
- Delivery: Deliveries must be made daily to the Main Kitchen at Groote Schuur Hospital in a clean, refrigerated vehicle at a temperature not exceeding 7°C.
Mandatory Documents
Bidders must submit the following valid certificates with their bid:
- HACCP/ISO 22000 Food Safety Certificate (with relevant category indicated) .
- Certificate of Acceptability (COA) for the bidder’s premises and transport.
- Halal Certification for the bidder’s premises.
Compulsory Briefing Session Protocols
Attendance at the pre-bid clarification meeting is strictly mandatory. Bidders are advised to arrive by 10:00 due to the walking distance from the entrance. Doors will close precisely at 11:00, and late arrivals will be denied entry and automatically disqualified.
