Scope of Works

The project involves the construction of new carports at the Aliwal North Engineering Campus. The scope includes:

  • Site clearance and removal of debris
  • Bulk excavation in earth
  • Casting reinforced concrete
  • Installation of structural steel posts, beams, braces, and roof sheets
  • Installation of rainwater goods
  • Paint works on steel structures, concrete, and roof sheeting

Functionality Evaluation Criteria

Tender bids scoring less than 70% on functionality will NOT be considered for further evaluation:

  • Experience (35 points): 3-5 appointment, completion, and reference letters for similar projects completed in the last 5 years
  • Locality (15 points): Preference for bidders within Ikhala district or Eastern Cape
  • Project Execution Plan (15 points): Detailed plan including tasks, duration, milestones, and responsibilities
  • Technical Capability (35 points): Site Agent/Construction Supervisor with 5+ years experience and Foreman with 3+ years experience

Additional Requirements

  • The contractor must train a minimum of 5 Ikhala TVET College students
  • Commencement of works within 7 working days after site possession
  • A non-refundable fee of R150.00 for bid documents
  • All documentation must be valid at the time of bid closure

Bids must be hand-delivered, containing one original completed in black ink, together with a USB containing scanned documents. Failure to submit the USB will result in disqualification.
