This presents a valuable opportunity for food suppliers to secure a long-term contract with a state-owned diamond mining company.

Key Details and Submission Deadline

The RFP, identified as ALEX RFP 04/2027, is open for submissions until 03 August 2026 at 12:00. Bids must be hand-delivered or couriered to the Alexkor RMC JV Mine at 1 Orange Road, Alexander Bay. The contract will run for a period of 18 months.

Scope of Work

The appointed service provider will supply groceries to the mine on a weekly basis. The comprehensive stock list includes meat products (beef, lamb, chicken, and processed meats), dairy products, fresh vegetables and fruits, frozen vegetables, sauces, baking ingredients, dry goods, canned goods, spices, and non-consumable kitchen items. All travelling costs associated with providing services must be included within the tender amount.

Bidders must submit the following documents for the first phase of evaluation:

  • Valid Tax Clearance Certificate and SARS PIN
  • Valid BBBEE Certificate
  • Completed and signed SBD forms (SBD 1, SBD 4, SBD 6.1)
  • Company registration certificate
  • Company profile
  • License to Carry on a Business from Local Municipality
  • Certificate of Acceptability for a Food Premise from Local Municipality
  • CSD registration documents (not older than 1 month)
  • Joint Venture/Consortium agreement (if applicable)

Functionality Assessment

Bidders must score at least 50 points out of 75 on technical/functionality to qualify for the next phase. Evaluation criteria include financial capacity (30 points), experience in supplying food (15 points), proof of transportation (15 points), contactable references (10 points), and locality (5 points).

Price and Preference Evaluation

Qualifying bids will be evaluated using the 80/20 preference points system, with 80 points for price and 20 points for specific goals. Specific goals include points for black ownership, women ownership, and youth ownership.
