PRASA Seeks Bids for Potable Water Tanker Supply Services

The Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa (PRASA) has issued a Request for Quotation (SGR/AS-AND-WHEN-SUPPLY&DELWATER/02/07/2026) for the supply and delivery of portable drinking water. This strategic 24-month contract targets capable water transport providers to support the South Gauteng Region (SGR) depots and stations.

Scope of Works and Regional Coverage

The appointed contractor will deliver potable water to JOJO tanks located at various SGR depots and stations scattered across Johannesburg. This “as and when” service is critical for maintaining essential sanitation and drinking water standards for commuters and staff at key transit nodes.

Mandatory Tanker Specifications and Experience

To qualify, bidders must possess a minimum of five years of experience in the water tanker industry. Furthermore, prospective contractors must demonstrate previous contracts or projects with a minimum value of R500,000. Crucially, the specification mandates the use of water tankers with a minimum capacity of 10,000 litres to ensure maximum value and operational efficiency.

Mandatory Returnable Documents

Failure to submit the following documents will result in disqualification:

  • Completed RFQ documentation including all declarations.
  • SANS 241 Compliance Certificate or Water Quality Test Report from a SANAS-accredited lab.
  • Valid Tax Clearance Certificate or SARS-issued PIN.
  • CSD supplier registration number.
  • Valid B-BBEE certificate or sworn affidavit.
  • Company registration documents and copies of Directors’ IDs.
  • Letter of Good Standing (COIDA).

Strict Physical Submission Protocols

In alignment with PRASA’s secure procurement policies, emailed or faxed bids will not be accepted. All quotation responses must be hand-delivered in sealed envelopes to the designated Supply Chain Management office.
